National Award for Dr. Farzana Hussain, The Project Surgery

Congratulations to Dr Farzana Hussain, senior partner at the Project Surgery in Plaistow, who has won the prestigious ‘GP of the Year’ at the 2019 General Practice Awards. This is a tremendous achievement. The judges noted Dr Hussain’s dedication to her patients, colleagues and local community and singled out for praise her work with clinical pharmacists to free up GP time and an initiative to streamline appointment processes. The award is recognition of Farzana’s hard work in driving quality improvement in primary care in Newham and promoting General Practice in Newham on the national stage. We are delighted that Farzana’s work has been recognised and that this is such a positive story for primary care in Newham. Congratulations!

 

7 Day GP Access Service Update - February 2020

GP practices have been requesting more weekday evening appointmentsavailable through the 7 Day Access Hubs as that is where the demand is.

In response from the 13th of January 2020 we have agreed with the GP Co-operative to provideadditional 96 GP and Nurse appointments in the evening from Monday to Fridaythe Glen Road and the Plashet Medical Centre Hubs. These appointments have been released by reducing the number of Sunday appointments available as these appointments are not being utilized.

Every day at 4.00pm GP Co-operative release cross-organisational appointments for next day booking. It’s accessible via the practice EMIS web system for all GP practices.
